A teacher of a madrasa has been arrested in connection with a case involving an 11-year-old female student who became pregnant in Madan upazila of Netrokona. Members of RAB-14 detained him around 3:00 AM on Tuesday from Gauripur upazila in Mymensingh.

The matter was confirmed to the media by Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Shamsuzzaman, who serves as the company commander for RAB-14’s media wing. He said a press briefing will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday at the RAB battalion headquarters in the Akua Bypass area of Mymensingh.

According to local residents, the case statement, and police sources, the accused teacher had established a women’s Qawmi madrasa about four years ago. The child used to live at her grandfather’s house and studied there. Her father had left the family, and her mother works as a domestic worker in Sylhet to support their livelihood.

Recently, the child fell ill and showed noticeable physical changes. Her mother returned from Sylhet and, after speaking with her daughter, learned about the situation. On April 18, the girl was taken to a clinic in Madan upazila town, where medical tests confirmed that she was pregnant. Following this, the girl’s mother filed a case at the local police station last Thursday.

Law enforcement agencies had been searching for the accused since the case was filed. Meanwhile, a video of the teacher surfaced on social media from an undisclosed location, where he claimed he was innocent.
