Discussion Seminar and Cultural Program Held on “The Times of Dhaka’s Journey”

On Friday, January 10, 2025, a discussion seminar titled “Democracy and the Future of Bangladesh” and a delightful cultural program were organized by The Times of Dhaka at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh.
The event was presided over by Al Baru Mustakim Nibir, with the chief guest being BNP Chairperson’s advisor and freedom fighter, Abdus Salam.
In his speech, Abdus Salam emphasized, “The goals for which we fought for the country’s independence remain unfulfilled. I urge everyone not to hand over politics to businessmen. If we could institutionalize politics, theft, robbery, and corruption would have ceased in our nation.”
In her vibrant hosting, Nipa introduced Al Baru Mustakim Nibir, who in his presidential address, said, “The Times of Dhaka continues to work as a distinct media outlet. Inspired by the spirit of the July uprising, we aim to highlight the inseparable aspects of Bangladesh’s art, literature, and politics.” He praised his colleagues at The Times of Dhaka and expressed a strong commitment to achieving even greater accomplishments in the future.

Special guests who delivered speeches at the event included BNP Executive Committee Member Md. Mohiuddin Jintu, human rights activist Monirul Islam Monir, ABM Saifullah, internationally renowned IT expert Mohammad Nasir Uddin, Sabbir Ahmed Rony, Lion Nuruzzaman Hira, and poet Ashok Dhar, editor of Swadesh Bichitra.
Following the discussion, Abdus Salam was awarded the Begum Khaleda Zia Peace Award by the publisher of The Times of Dhaka, Al Baru Mustakim Nibir. Various team members of The Times of Dhaka, including Mostafizur Rahman, Tanvir Ahmed, and Al Baru Muktadir Abir, were honored in different categories. Investigative journalist Sayedur Rahman Rimon received a Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contributions.

The first segment of the program concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony led by Abdus Salam, marking the formal close of the discussion session.
The event ended on a high note with a captivating cultural program, leaving the audience thoroughly delighted.
