Manzur Mohammad Shahriar and Matlubur Rahman Russell Elected as President and General Secretary of JU Philosophy Alumni Association

Manzur Mohammad Shahriar has been elected as the President, and Matlubur Rahman Russell as the General Secretary of the Jahangirnagar University (JU) Philosophy Alumni Association.

They were elected through a council during the general meeting of the Philosophy Alumni Association held on Friday (July 4) at 3:30 PM, for the next two years. Earlier that day, the Philosophy Alumni Association’s reunion event took place, during which the election was held.

Manzur Mohammad Shahriar was a student of the 21st batch of the Department of Philosophy. He is currently serving as the Director of the “Digital Entrepreneurship and Innovation Ecosystem Development Project” under the Department of Information and Communication Technology.

On the other hand, Matlubur Rahman Russell was a student of the 29th batch of the same department and is currently working at Pubali Bank.

In an immediate reaction, Manzur Mohammad Shahriar said, “As former students, we have certain responsibilities towards our department. I’ve always had plans for the betterment of the Philosophy Department, and I hope I will now be able to implement them. I seek everyone’s cooperation in this regard.”

General Secretary Matlubur Rahman Russell said, “Many people think Philosophy students lag behind others. We want to prove that notion wrong. As representatives of the Alumni Association, we aim to contribute to the overall development of the department.”

The reunion event was attended by Jahangirnagar University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan, Chairman of the Philosophy Department Professor Munir Hossain Talukdar, Professor Tareq Chowdhury, Professor Anwarullah Bhuiyan, Associate Professor Abdus Sattar Joy, among others.
