Google has launched a new feature called ‘Deep Think’ exclusively for subscribers of its Gemini Ultra service, enhancing the system’s ability to solve complex problems through extended reasoning time. Available now within the Gemini app, this advanced tool is a streamlined version of the model that recently earned a gold medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), according to Google’s official blog.

Deep Think employs parallel reasoning methods that enable it to consider multiple possible solutions at once before selecting the best answer. While the full competition-grade model may take several hours to tackle difficult math problems, this consumer-friendly version delivers faster responses while achieving bronze-level performance in IMO-style challenges, based on Google’s internal evaluations.

The feature is designed for tasks that involve strategic thinking, including coding, scientific research, and iterative design processes. Google has also made the full competition-grade model available to selected mathematicians for academic purposes.

Safety reviews show that Deep Think offers improved moderation compared to Gemini 2.5 Pro but may decline some harmless requests more frequently. Currently, usage is capped at a fixed number of prompts per day for Ultra subscribers, with API access for developers expected soon.

This rollout aligns with Google’s approach of providing cutting-edge AI capabilities primarily to its paid Ultra users, without changes to pricing at this time.
