The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has advised residents and commuters to steer clear of Manik Miah Avenue and the National Parliament area today, as cultural festivities and large public gatherings are expected in observance of “July Uprising Day.”

The events, organized by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, will run from 11:00 AM until midnight, featuring musical performances, speeches, and a drone light show at night.

To reduce congestion, the DMP has recommended alternate routes and issued specific traffic diversions:

🚫 Restricted Roads & Diversions

🔹 Aarong Intersection (West end of Manik Miah Avenue):

• Northbound traffic via Mirpur Road or coming from Asad Gate (Mohammadpur side) should continue through Dhanmondi 27 East, not turning left at Aarong Crossing.

• Southbound vehicles from Science Lab should not turn right at Aarong Crossing. Instead, head north → turn right at Ganabhaban → take Lake Road → proceed to Bijoy Sarani.

🔹 Khejurbagan Intersection (East end of Manik Miah Avenue):

• Vehicles coming from the Elevated Expressway (Indira Road) must avoid entering Manik Miah Avenue. Instead, they should:

  • Turn right at Khejurbagan

  • Continue along Lake Road

  • Turn left at Ganabhaban to join Mirpur Road, toward Dhanmondi.

• Travelers are encouraged to avoid Khejurbagan altogether. Use the Hatirjheel (FDC) exit rather than the Farmgate ramp when heading toward Dhanmondi or Mohammadpur.

🔹 Farmgate Intersection:

• Traffic from Farmgate heading toward Manik Miah Avenue or Mirpur must skip the left turn at Khejurbagan. Instead:

  • Go straight to Bijoy Sarani

  • Turn left into Lake Road.

🔹 Ganabhaban Crossing:

• Vehicles from Mirpur Road (north) toward Farmgate or Sonargaon should:

  • Turn left at Ganabhaban

  • Continue along Lake Road → Urojahaj Crossing → Bijoy Sarani → Farmgate.

• Similarly, vehicles from Asad Gate should:

  • Turn left

  • Then right at Ganabhaban

  • Continue via Lake Road to Bijoy Sarani.

🔹 Syed Mahbub Morshed Road (Agargaon–Shishu Mela):

• During the event, all vehicles intending to reach Manik Miah Avenue are advised to use Syed Mahbub Morshed Road.

🚗 Parking Instructions:

• Vehicles transporting event attendees should park at the Old Trade Fair Grounds in Agargaon.

🎭 Event Highlights:

• Cultural performances from various artists and youth groups

• “Celebration of the Fall of Fascists” ceremony in the afternoon

• Recital of the July Declaration in the evening

• A drone light show at 7:30 PM

• A live performance by the band Artcell later in the night

Due to these major events and expected crowds, Manik Miah Avenue will remain restricted from Khejurbagan to its western end all day.

The public is urged to follow the directions of traffic personnel and cooperate to help maintain safety and minimize disruptions during the national observance.
