The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has announced a ban on all forms of public gatherings in and around the Bangladesh Secretariat and Jamuna, the official residence of the Chief Adviser, starting Friday. The restriction will remain in effect until further notice.
This directive, issued by DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali, was enacted under the authority granted by Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III of 1976), citing the need to maintain public safety and ensure the security of the Chief Adviser.
The order prohibits any type of assembly, including meetings, rallies, human chains, sit-ins, and processions, within the restricted areas. The affected zone encompasses the Secretariat and surrounding locations, as well as the Jamuna residence area — specifically the area bounded by Hotel Intercontinental Crossing, Kakrail Mosque Crossing, Shambhal, Officers Club Crossing, and Mintu Road Crossing.
