Two Dead, Several Injured in Chittagong During Eid Milad-un-Nabi Procession

Two people have died and at least six others were injured after being trampled in a procession held to celebrate Eid Milad-un-Nabi in Chittagong city. Among the injured, one is reported to be in critical condition. The incident occurred around noon on Saturday in the Muradpur area of the city.

The deceased have been identified as Ayub Ali (60) from Patia upazila and Saiful Islam (13) from the Kalamia Bazar area. They were taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital after being rescued, where doctors declared them dead.

The deaths were confirmed by Sohel Rana, assistant in-charge of the Chittagong Medical College police outpost. He added that one of the injured is currently in intensive care.

Relatives of the deceased, particularly Saiful’s family, were seen breaking down in tears outside the hospital.

Members of the Anjuman-e-Rahmania Trust’s medical team brought the injured to the hospital. Aminur Rahman, one of the volunteers, told reporters, “Several people fell in the crowd due to heat and exhaustion, and some were trampled in the chaos. We managed to rescue eight individuals and bring them to the hospital, but unfortunately, two of them did not survive.”
