A livable Bangladesh for future generations is our goal: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged democratic forces to strengthen their commitment to creating a sustainable and livable Bangladesh for future generations.
“A sense of hope has arisen among us. We must all be more dedicated to rebuilding Bangladesh. Our collective efforts are crucial in shaping a nation that is sustainable and livable for the generations to come,” he stated.
He made these remarks at a discussion held at the Jatiya Press Club, organized to commemorate the posthumous Ekushey Padak award conferred upon the late journalist Mahfuz Ullah.
Addressing the gathering, Fakhrul reflected on the long-standing struggles of political parties against oppression and autocracy.
“For years, we have resisted fascism, enduring relentless suppression. But through our collective movement, we have ultimately triumphed. Today, we stand with renewed hope for the future of our country,” he said.
He expressed satisfaction that the state had recognized Mahfuz Ullah’s contributions with the Ekushey Padak, albeit posthumously.
Fakhrul described the late journalist as a tireless advocate for social change, democracy, and people’s rights. He recalled Mahfuz Ullah’s significant role in uniting political forces—both left and right—to strengthen the movement against Sheikh Hasina’s autocratic rule.
