Daily allegations of corruption are reportedly being filed with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against Sheikh Hasina, head of what critics call a “fallen government,” and members of her family. According to sources, after six charge sheets were submitted over fraudulent land allotments in Purbachal, a court has issued arrest warrants against Sheikh Hasina and some of her family members.

When asked how the ACC plans to bring back the accused, Commissioner Hafiz Ahsan Farid told Somoy News that letters are being sent to international agencies and that a final decision on involving Interpol will be made at the next commission meeting.

Despite Tulip Siddiq, one of the accused, claiming British citizenship, the ACC maintains that she will be prosecuted as a Bangladeshi national.

On the same day, the ACC also filed a case against former Rajshahi City Mayor Khairuzzaman Liton, his wife, and daughter Onika for alleged illegal assets worth Tk 18 crore and suspicious transactions totaling Tk 130 crore.

In a separate case, the ACC has decided to interrogate 11 individuals, including Sheikh Hasina’s former adviser Salman F Rahman, over the alleged misappropriation of Tk 7,129 crore in loans from IFIC Bank.
