Tarique Rahman’s Dhaka-17 Nomination Approved

The nomination paper of BNP Acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman has been approved for the Dhaka-17 constituency in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

The decision was announced on Saturday afternoon following the scrutiny process at the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner’s Office in Segunbagicha. The announcement was made by Returning Officer Sharaf Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, who oversees the 13 constituencies of Dhaka.

In the same constituency, the nomination of Jamaat-e-Islami candidate S M Khaliduzzaman was also declared valid.

The returning officer stated that the decision was taken after completing all required verification procedures, including reviewing objections, complaints, and submitted documents. After thorough scrutiny, both candidates were found eligible to contest.

Representatives of Tarique Rahman were present during the announcement and expressed satisfaction with the decision. No immediate reaction was received from other candidates or their representatives.

According to election officials, 17 nomination papers were submitted for Dhaka-17. Valid candidates have already been allotted their respective election symbols.

Senior BNP leaders, including Chairperson’s Adviser Abdus Salam, were present on behalf of Tarique Rahman. Meanwhile, Jamaat candidate S M Khaliduzzaman attended the session in person along with his supporters.
