Ten political parties, led by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, have reached a seat-sharing understanding for 250 parliamentary constituencies, keeping 50 seats open for Islami Andolon Bangladesh. The alliance has been named the “11-Party Electoral Unity.”

According to the alliance, the list of candidates for the 250 agreed seats will be officially announced tonight at 8:00 pm at the Institution of Diploma Engineers in Dhaka.

To ensure Islami Andolon Bangladesh remains part of the arrangement, the ten-party alliance has assigned Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis Amir, Mamunul Haque, to continue negotiations. He has been holding discussions with the leadership of Islami Andolon.

Earlier today, around 11:30 am, senior leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami and the allied ten parties met at Jamaat’s central office in Moghbazar to finalize the seat-sharing framework. Meeting sources said discussions focused on how many constituencies each party would contest.

After the meeting, Khelafat Majlis senior Nayeb-e-Amir Mohammad Muntasir Ali told reporters that 50 constituencies have been left vacant specifically for Islami Andolon. He added that if Islami Andolon does not join the alliance, candidates for the remaining seats may be announced later.

JAGPA Vice President and spokesperson Rashed Pradhan said Mamunul Haque has been formally tasked with negotiating seat-sharing with Islami Andolon Bangladesh and is currently in contact with the Chormonai Pir.

Speaking to journalists, Mamunul Haque said talks were held in the presence of leaders from all ten parties and that discussions with Islami Andolon are ongoing. He expressed optimism that the alliance would be able to announce candidates while keeping Islami Andolon on board.

National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam said the 11-party alliance holds political significance and public expectations are attached to it. He added that differences of opinion are natural and will be resolved, stressing that the alliance process will continue even if disagreements persist. He also said no party will field candidates independently in all 300 constituencies; instead, all candidates will represent the alliance.

The meeting was attended by several senior leaders, including Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Amir Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, alliance coordinator Hamidur Rahman Azad, NCP Convener Nahid Islam, Khelafat Majlis Amir Mamunul Haque, AB Party Chairman Mojibur Rahman Manju, and representatives from multiple allied parties.

Meanwhile, Islami Andolon Bangladesh said it was informed about the meeting only shortly before it began, making it difficult to participate. The party stated that discussions with Jamaat-e-Islami are still ongoing and no final decision has been made to leave the alliance.

Despite tensions, both Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Andolon Bangladesh have kept the door open for further negotiations. Jamaat Amir Shafiqur Rahman, in a social media post, urged supporters to refrain from making confusing or harmful comments regarding Islami Andolon Bangladesh, emphasizing unity and restraint.

Islami Andolon Bangladesh, in a separate statement, said that while some discomfort exists, it is not yet time for a final announcement. The party noted that multi-dimensional talks are continuing and that any final decision will be communicated formally when appropriate.
