Rezaul Karim Criticizes Jamaat, Accuses Them of Secret Meetings with US and India
Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, Amir of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, has sharply criticized Jamaat-e-Islami, saying, “They say one thing publicly but act differently behind closed doors. In front of us, they claim one thing, yet secretly meet at the US embassy. They say one thing, but secretly hold meetings with India. Why hide these meetings? People of the country have understood the truth behind these secrets.”
Rezaul Karim made these remarks on Friday night during an election rally near the Police Lines area along the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Narsingdi Sadar Upazila, where he was the chief guest.
The Islami Andolan Bangladesh leader claimed that the BNP-Jamaat alliance failed to fulfill the aspirations and goals of the people while in power. “Now, if they return to power, will they bring development and peace? The people of Bangladesh are not naive—they will not be deceived again,” he added.
Highlighting the country’s lack of progress under current political practices, Rezaul Karim said, “The nation has not been run according to principles and ideals for the past 54 years. After the popular uprising on August 5, we hoped to rebuild the country, create a beautiful nation, strengthen Islam, and uphold humanity. With this vision, I had prepared a framework for advancing Islam.”
However, due to differences over leadership and policy approaches, Islami Andolan Bangladesh has decided to contest the elections independently rather than as part of any alliance.
Addressing Jamaat-e-Islami directly, he said, “Some power-hungry leaders prefer the existing legal framework instead of the principles of Islam. They claim to want a justice-based state. But after 54 years of running the country under the current rules, has justice ever been achieved? How will they suddenly implement justice now? This is nothing but deception.”
Appealing to voters, Rezaul Karim urged, “Those who love the country and Islam, if united and vote wisely, change is possible. It is no longer the time to remain silent.”
The rally was chaired by Narsingdi-1 candidate and district president Ashraf Hossain. Other speakers included Narsingdi-2 candidate Shaiful Islam Pradhan, Narsingdi-3 candidate Wayeze Hossain Bhuiyan, Narsingdi-5 candidate Bodruzzaman, along with central and local party leaders.
