Bangladesh and Türkiye Pledge Stronger Ties After High-Level Meeting in New York

Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a bilateral meeting in New York, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the longstanding friendship between the two countries and exploring new avenues of cooperation.
The meeting took place Tuesday evening at the Turkish House (Türkevi), located at 821 United Nations Plaza near the United Nations headquarters, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
According to Prime Minister’s Assistant Press Secretary AKM Nazmul Haque, the two leaders exchanged views on a range of issues of mutual interest aimed at deepening and diversifying Bangladesh-Türkiye relations.
During the talks, Prime Minister Rahman and President Erdoğan discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in key sectors, including economic relations, trade, and investment.
The leaders also reviewed regional and global developments and emphasized the importance of maintaining close coordination and collaboration on issues of shared interest in international forums.
Both sides expressed their determination to further strengthen the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Türkiye and to identify new areas of partnership based on common priorities and mutual interests.
The meeting underscored the commitment of Dhaka and Ankara to enhancing bilateral engagement and broadening cooperation across multiple sectors in the years ahead.
