In a special event on the 2009 Pilkhana massacre held at the Rawa Convention Hall in Dhaka, Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman issued a strong warning about the unity of the nation. He urged that if divisions and conflicts within the country continue, it would jeopardize the sovereignty and independence of the nation. He stressed the need for unity and collaboration among all, and warned that failure to do so would lead to national instability. He acknowledged the critical role played by various law enforcement agencies, including the army, police, and intelligence services, in maintaining the country’s stability, and emphasized that the key to tackling the current law and order situation lies in solidarity.

General Zaman also pointed out the challenges faced by the police force, citing legal and political issues that have undermined its effectiveness. He highlighted the importance of a comprehensive approach to national security, noting that maintaining peace and order cannot solely rely on the military. The army chief called for support for all security forces and stressed that internal divisions and conflicts must be overcome to ensure the country’s future stability. He emphasized the importance of a free, fair, and inclusive election, reiterating his commitment to assisting in achieving this goal.

Finally, General Zaman appealed to the nation to set aside differences and work together for the greater good of the country, urging a collective effort for progress and peace. He warned against any further attacks on the military, stressing that such actions undermine the unity necessary to safeguard the nation’s interests. He called for advice and collaboration rather than criticism, with the shared objective of leading the nation forward.
