Legendary wrestler Rey Misterio Sr., whose real name was Miguel Ángel López, has passed away at the age of 66, his family confirmed on Sunday, December 22. A prominent figure in the wrestling world, he began his career in 1976 and retired in 2009.
Rey Misterio Sr. was the uncle of current wrestling star Rey Mysterio Jr. and played a pivotal role in the wrestling world, securing numerous championships throughout his career. Last month, Rey Mysterio Jr.’s father, Roberto Gutiérrez, also passed away.
One of Rey Misterio Sr.’s most memorable achievements came in 1995 when he teamed up with Rey Mysterio Jr. to win the WWE Tag Team Championship, a moment that remains iconic in wrestling history.
