Merry Christmas! Today marks the most joyous and significant religious celebration for Christians worldwide. Churches across the country, including in Dhaka, are adorned with colorful lights as worshipers gather for prayers, spreading the message of peace and humanity brought by Jesus Christ. According to Christian belief, over 2,000 years ago, Jesus was born to the Virgin Mary in a humble manger in Bethlehem. His teachings aimed to guide humanity toward truth and righteousness.

This festive day is celebrated with prayers, hymns, and vibrant decorations, including Christmas trees and symbolic nativity scenes in homes. Children eagerly await gifts from Santa Claus. Across Bangladesh, Christian communities observe the day with special ceremonies, family gatherings, and visits to churches. Major cities have decorated hotels and public spaces to reflect the spirit of the season.

The government has declared today a public holiday, with media outlets publishing special supplements and broadcasting programs highlighting the significance of Christmas. However, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police has issued restrictions on fireworks, sky lanterns, and firecrackers during the festivities to ensure a safe and serene environment. Authorities have also deployed robust security measures, particularly in areas like St. Mary’s Cathedral in Kakrail, ensuring a peaceful celebration for all.
