Three Killed in Motorcycle–Car Crash on Dhaka–Mawa Expressway
Three young men lost their lives after a motorcycle carrying four friends collided with a private car on the Dhaka–Mawa Expressway at Nimtala on Thursday night.
According to the Fire Service, the friends were riding on an unregistered motorcycle when heavy rain caused the rider to lose control. The bike fell on the service lane and was immediately struck by an oncoming private car traveling toward Dhaka.
The deceased have been identified as Awlad Hossain (23), son of Anwar Hossain; Habil (22), son of Hashem; and Kaiyum (22), son of Mangal Mia—all residents of Rasunia Union in Sirajdikhan upazila. Another rider, Imon (20), son of Bachchu Mia from the same village, was injured and later transferred to Dhaka for advanced treatment.
Police officials confirmed that Awlad and Habil died at the scene. Kaiyum succumbed to his injuries after being taken to a local clinic. The private car responsible fled the scene, and law enforcement is working to identify it.
Shreenagar Fire Service officers said the motorcycle lost balance due to heavy rain, which led to the tragic accident.
Local representatives stated that all four victims were construction workers and close friends, commuting daily for work. Their deaths have cast a shadow of grief over the community.
Earlier the same day, another accident on the expressway’s Sholghar area left three dead after a private car overturned. Within just 17 hours, six people were killed on this highway.
