The main office of the Jatiya Party in Dhaka’s Kakrail was attacked again this evening.

Rozina Akhter, duty officer at the Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters, said they received a 999 call reporting that unidentified individuals threw bricks and stones at the building before setting it on fire. Later, another call informed them that the blaze had already been put out.

A Ramna Police Station official confirmed that a police team was on-site at the time. “There was an incident of vandalism and arson at the Jatiya Party office. Our team present there managed to bring the situation under control,” the officer said.

Just days earlier, on August 29, a violent clash broke out in Kakrail between Jatiya Party supporters and members of Gono Odhikar Parishad. Several people, including Gono Odhikar leader Nurul Haque Nur, were injured as police intervened with baton charges. The following day, the Jatiya Party office was again targeted and partially burned.

Responding to the latest incident, Gono Odhikar Parishad Secretary General Rashed Khan said, “We held our rally in Shahbagh today. We only heard about what happened in Kakrail. Jatiya Party has conflicts with different groups, but we are not aware of any involvement.”
