Education advisor Wahiduddin Mahmud has stated that he cannot confirm when all students will receive their textbooks for the current academic year. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday after a meeting of the Advisory Council on Government Procurement at the Secretariat, the advisor acknowledged delays in the textbook distribution process.

He noted that in previous years, the complete distribution of textbooks did not occur before March. This year, the printing process started late due to necessary revisions to the books, which included updating the syllabus and curriculum. The advisor explained that the number of books has increased significantly, and no books are being printed abroad. This is the first time the country’s capacity for domestic production is being tested, inevitably leading to delays.

Additionally, he highlighted that even after recovering all art paper stored in various warehouses, a shortage was observed. However, shipments of art paper have already departed from abroad. When asked for a specific timeline, he stated, “I cannot say when all students will have all their books.”
