Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain has stated that an electoral roadmap will be announced soon, with the interim government aiming to transfer power to an elected government as quickly as possible.

Amid political fervor surrounding the upcoming national elections, the interim government has yet to announce a specific date, despite suggestions that elections may occur at the end of this year or early 2026. This uncertainty has sparked concern, unease, and sometimes frustration among political leaders.

Speaking at a “Branding Bangladesh” event in Dhaka on Saturday, January 11, the adviser emphasized that preparations for the elections and power transfer are underway. He also addressed tensions at the Bangladesh-India border, where India’s Border Security Force (BSF) has allegedly attempted to construct barbed wire fences in violation of international laws, prompting resistance from Bangladesh’s Border Guard (BGB) and local residents.

The adviser criticized provocative news circulated by Indian media on social platforms, accusing them of spreading false claims about Hindu persecution. He called for domestic media support to counter such misinformation. Additionally, he noted that overseas political activities by BNP, Awami League, and other groups, such as protests and slogans, negatively impact Bangladesh’s global branding.
