The Home Affairs Adviser, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, stated that any negligence by law enforcement personnel during the nationwide crackdown on crime would be dealt with under the law. He made this statement on Tuesday at 9 AM while speaking to journalists at Banani Military Cemetery after placing a wreath in remembrance of the army officers killed in the Pilkhana massacre.
He noted that this year’s commemoration of the Pilkhana killings was different, as it had been officially declared as “Shaheed Sena Dibosh” (Martyr Army Day).
When asked about the overall situation and the success of the ongoing operation that began last night, the adviser said that it was up to journalists to assess its effectiveness. However, he emphasized that if any of his personnel or law enforcement officers were found negligent, they would be brought under the law.
He further asserted that no one would be spared, whether they belonged to the police, BGB, RAB, Ansar, or the prison department. Those failing to perform their duties properly would face legal consequences.
Regarding the latest updates on the operation, he suggested that journalists should report the truth, as the authorities were taking action based on media reports. He mentioned that measures had already been taken against two Superintendents of Police (SPs) following media coverage and assured that any factual reports would lead to appropriate action.
