Gulshan Police Station’s Sub-Inspector (SI) and a constable have been suspended for negligence of duty, according to Home Affairs Advisor Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury. He shared this information during an early morning inspection of Mirpur, Darussalam, Adabor, and Mohammadpur police stations in Dhaka on Thursday.

During the inspection, the advisor emphasized that law enforcement officers must remain alert at all times to maintain public safety. Responding to journalists, he stated that the police must ensure people can sleep peacefully and move around without fear. He also mentioned that, alongside law enforcement agencies, ministry officials have been assigned to monitor the situation. Additionally, the number of deployed forces and patrol units has been increased.

He warned that those disrupting law and order would face legal consequences and assured that security forces were vigilant. Checkposts at key locations in the capital were operational, and joint operations were progressing effectively. The police stations were functioning as expected, and his visit was meant to ensure their proper operation.

The advisor pointed out that law enforcement officers tend to become less vigilant in the early hours of the morning, creating opportunities for criminals. He directed them to stay alert even during these hours.

When asked about the duration of the ongoing joint operation, he stated that it would continue until the situation improved, but other operations would persist as necessary. He confirmed that an SI and a constable were suspended on Wednesday for negligence at Gulshan Police Station.

On Thursday, the advisor traveled from his residence in Baridhara DOHS, passing through ECB Square, Kalshi, Pallabi, Mirpur-10, and Mirpur Police Station. He then visited Darussalam Police Station via Mirpur-1 before heading to Adabor through Technical Intersection and Shyamoli. From there, he proceeded to Mohammadpur Police Station and later returned home via Dhanmondi 27, the National Parliament area, Bijoy Sarani, Mohakhali, and Banani.

During his visits, he inspected reception areas, detention cells, and other facilities at the stations. He also interacted with on-duty officers, providing necessary guidance and urging them to be more proactive.

Additionally, he visited checkposts at Zillur Rahman Flyover and Kalshi Intersection, engaging with officers on duty. At Mirpur Police Station Intersection and Technical Intersection, he spoke with the general public, inquiring about their experiences with law enforcement. The gathered citizens expressed satisfaction with the current law and order situation.
