Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam stated that those who have fled to Kolkata are criminals and that necessary actions are being taken against them. He also dismissed concerns about potential sabotage during Eid, saying that such rumors surface every year but security measures are in place to prevent any incidents.

During a press briefing on Sunday, March 30, after inspecting the National Eidgah ground in the High Court area, he assured that law enforcement agencies are fully prepared to counter any threats.

Earlier, while visiting Kamalapur Railway Station, he addressed issues related to ticket scalping, noting that in previous years, a syndicate operated during Eid travel, often involving railway staff. However, strict monitoring this time has prevented such activities, ensuring a hassle-free journey for passengers.

He also highlighted that aside from occasional schedule disruptions, trains were departing on time, and travelers were experiencing a smoother journey. The absence of extortion on highways was another positive outcome, which he attributed to the government’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption. Law enforcement agencies, he said, were actively ensuring that no illegal activities occurred.

At Sadarghat, he observed that river travel was also proceeding smoothly, with around a million passengers having already traveled by water transport. He further noted that there were no significant complaints regarding fare prices, adding that overall, Eid travel this year was more comfortable and organized.
