Clear Message to India: Strong Ties Must Be Mutual

Interim government Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain stated that Bangladesh has delivered a clear message to India, emphasizing the desire for good relations based on mutual interests.
He made these remarks on Saturday during an exchange of views organized by the Belabo Upazila Administration. The event included officials from various departments, freedom fighters, representatives from the local government, politicians, journalists, and members of civil society.
The Foreign Affairs Adviser affirmed, “Our primary goal is to transfer power to elected representatives through a free and fair election. There should be no doubt about this commitment. Our first task is to restore stability in the country.”
Touhid Hossain further remarked that Bangladesh aims to maintain friendly relations with all nations, grounded in respect and equality. He added, “We have conveyed to India that we seek a constructive relationship, but it must be based on mutual interests.”
The discussion was chaired by Md. Abdul Karim, Upazila Executive Officer of Belabo. Notable attendees included former Secretary of the Bridges Division Md. Zahid Hossain, MRDI Adviser Md. Shahid Hossain, Chairman of the Bangladesh Energy and Power Research Council (BEPRC) Mohammad Wahid Hossain, former Air Commodore of the Bangladesh Air Force Khalid Hossain, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Raypura Circle) Afsan Al Alam, Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Belabo Md. Nazmul Hossain, and various political leaders and representatives.
Later, the Foreign Affairs Adviser was scheduled to participate in similar discussions in villages of Belabo and Raypura Upazila.
