Home Affairs Adviser Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury stated that police have been instructed to prevent the Awami League from organizing any rallies or processions. He warned that strict action would be taken against any law enforcement personnel who fail to control the situation effectively.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday afternoon after inspecting the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport police station, the adviser addressed concerns regarding alleged police inaction during recent Awami League gatherings. He confirmed that two individuals had already been detained and emphasized that any negligence by officers in stopping such unauthorized political activities would not be tolerated.

He also noted that the government is considering improving the benefits for police personnel at the grassroots level. Plans are being discussed to reassign officers closer to their home districts so they can spend more time with their families and make better use of their leave days.

When asked about officers not joining their new posts after transfers, he responded that any confirmed instances of such non-compliance would result in disciplinary measures. He encouraged journalists to provide a list of such cases, promising that the government would act accordingly, adding that almost all police personnel in Dhaka are newly posted.
