On Sunday night, January 5, after meeting with BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced that she would travel to London on January 7 for medical treatment. He praised her as a steadfast leader in the country’s democracy, beloved by the people, and emphasized her dedication to national sovereignty. Fakhrul shared that the party’s Standing Committee members visited to bid her farewell and discussed her treatment. He expressed hopes for her swift recovery, praying that Allah grants her full health so she can return to lead the ongoing democratic struggle in Bangladesh. Responding to journalists’ questions, he mentioned that Khaleda had instructed them to work together for the people, democracy, and the nation’s progress, and he expressed confidence that she would return healthy and continue her leadership.
