BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir stated that if the advisers in the interim government fail to maintain neutrality, they should be removed. He made these remarks during a media briefing at BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan on Sunday, March 30, around 11:30 AM.

Fakhrul accused certain groups of deliberately trying to delay the election and warned that if obstacles arise, people will have to take to the streets. Expressing disappointment over some advisers’ statements, he questioned their impartiality, emphasizing that neutrality is essential for their role.

He further alleged that government resources were being used to establish a particular political party, mentioning reports of state funding allocations and development projects being handed out unfairly.

Responding to attempts to label BNP as pro-India, Fakhrul dismissed the claims, asserting that BNP has always prioritized Bangladesh’s interests. He also criticized efforts to discredit the party and reduce its popularity, insisting that BNP is advocating for elections to restore people’s democratic legitimacy, not merely to gain power.

Regarding the role of the military, he stated that the armed forces demonstrated their patriotism during the events of August 5 and should not be dragged into political controversies.

Fakhrul also attributed the interim government’s failure to provide a clear roadmap to its political inexperience, arguing that a well-defined roadmap would help mitigate ongoing crises.

On another note, he viewed Chief Adviser Dr. Yunus’ visit to China positively, stressing the importance of geopolitical ties. He emphasized that Bangladesh should maintain strong relations with China, India, Pakistan, and Myanmar to safeguard national interests and pursue balanced diplomacy.
