BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has accused the ruling Awami League of orchestrating a deep conspiracy to portray the interim government as ineffective. Speaking at a press conference held at the party’s central office in Naya Paltan on Thursday (April 24), Rizvi alleged that dangerous Awami League leaders are being treated with leniency in court, while those involved in what he termed “Hasina’s genocidal forces” are not only avoiding accountability for over 15 years of authoritarian rule, but are also openly threatening the judiciary. He claimed such arrogance in court is a deliberate move to undermine the interim administration.

Rizvi further stated that elements within the Ministry of Home Affairs and the police, loyal to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, are complicit through their silence, contributing to the prevailing lawlessness. He specifically alleged that Awami League cadres are targeting homes of BNP members and affiliates, including the recent arson attack on the house of sculptor Manbendra Ghosh in Manikganj’s Garpara area, where more than 30 of his artworks were destroyed. Rizvi claimed the attack was carried out under Hasina’s orders and warned that certain forces are using political unrest as an opportunity to further their own agendas. Visiting the site on behalf of acting chairman Tarique Rahman, Rizvi handed over financial aid to Ghosh and demanded justice against the perpetrators.
