After spending four months in London for advanced medical treatment and to be with her family, BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has returned to Dhaka. She arrived on Tuesday (May 6) at 10:40 AM aboard a Qatar Royal Air Ambulance, accompanied by two daughters-in-law, members of her medical board, and a total entourage of 14. Upon landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, she was received by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and other senior party leaders.
From early morning, a large number of BNP activists gathered at the airport to greet her, expressing relief at her improved health. Many voiced hope that Khaleda Zia would once again play a crucial role in leading the party and working toward the restoration of democracy in Bangladesh.
Earlier, on Monday (May 5) in London, her son Tarique Rahman personally drove her to Heathrow Airport. The farewell was an emotional moment for both him and his wife Zubaida Rahman, as Khaleda Zia prepared to leave after spending time with them. Thousands of expatriate BNP members had gathered to bid her farewell, chanting slogans and offering heartfelt wishes. Smiling and waving, Khaleda Zia expressed her gratitude and asked the crowd to take care of her son Tarique in her absence.
In addition to her daughters-in-law and medical team, UK BNP President MA Malek and General Secretary Kaiser M Ahmed also returned with her.
