Mirza Abbas, a permanent member of the BNP Standing Committee, expressed his excitement after hearing the slogan “Naray-e-Takbeer” at a rally in Sohrawardy Udyan on Saturday (December 28). He remarked that the slogans “Naray-e-Takbeer” and “Zindabad” had disappeared from Bangladesh for a long time. Reflecting on his past, Abbas shared that during the rule of the Awami League, he was arrested over 12 times and currently faces 108 cases against him, which also involve Islamic groups such as Hefazat-e-Islam and Jamaat. He added that the end of Awami League’s rule marked the end of the fear-driven life he had endured. Speaking to India, he criticized its concern over Prime Minister Hasina’s potential downfall, warning that creating instability would harm everyone, as fires in neighboring houses don’t spare one’s own. He also reiterated that BNP would never compromise on the country’s independence and sovereignty. Abbas further recalled the student protests that had reignited when Madrasa students in Jatrabari, along with private university students and ordinary citizens, took to the streets, noting that no one could claim peace in their homes over the past 16-17 years.
