Meeting between Abdus Salam Pintu and Mirza Fakhrul

BNP Vice Chairman and former Deputy Education Minister Abdus Salam Pintu, who had been imprisoned for nearly 17 years in connection with the August 21 grenade attack case, was recently released. On Sunday morning, December 29, Pintu and his family visited BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at his residence in Gulshan.

 

Shayrul Kabir Khan, a member of BNP’s media cell, confirmed the meeting to the press, stating that Pintu and his wife, Bilkis Begum, had a cordial discussion with the party’s Secretary General. Pintu had been arrested in 2008 in connection with the grenade attack case and had remained in custody since. He was recently acquitted by the High Court, leading to his release from prison.
