The visit to the hospital was attended by the Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman, the Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hasan, and the Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan.
Ahead of the Chief Adviser’s arrival in the evening, security around the hospital was significantly tightened. Members of the Special Security Force (SSF), the President Guard Regiment (PGR), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), police, and other law-enforcement units were deployed. The main entrance of the hospital was cordoned off with barbed-wire barricades to control movement.
Khaleda Zia, 80, has long been suffering from multiple health complications, including cardiac issues, diabetes, arthritis, liver cirrhosis, and kidney-related problems. She was rushed to Evercare Hospital on 23 November after experiencing severe breathing difficulty. Subsequent examinations revealed infections affecting both her heart and lungs.
Doctors continue to describe her condition as critical and have said the coming days are extremely important. Without stable kidney function, they believe achieving lasting improvement in her overall condition will be challenging.
At around 7:00 p.m. today, the Chief Adviser’s motorcade arrived at Evercare Hospital.
Meanwhile, BNP leaders and supporters have been gathering outside the hospital following news of her deteriorating health, causing traffic congestion in the area. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged party members not to crowd the hospital premises.
