Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus emphasized the importance of presenting a unified image of Bangladesh to counter misinformation campaigns during a discussion with political parties at the Foreign Service Academy. Prof. Yunus noted that fabricated narratives about Bangladesh are being spread internationally, affecting perceptions in multiple countries, and stressed the need for collective efforts to refute these claims and showcase the nation’s achievements.
The Chief Adviser called for suggestions from political parties to ensure the country moves forward without errors and highlighted the openness of the government, encouraging foreign observers to visit and assess the ground realities. He acknowledged that some parties may dislike the idea of a “new Bangladesh” but insisted on unity to protect the nation’s interests and sovereignty. Prof. Yunus also pointed out that those behind the disinformation campaigns are well-resourced, making national solidarity even more crucial.
After the meeting, Law Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul reiterated the need for unity against external propaganda, particularly from Indian media, which he accused of spreading misleading information about Bangladesh. He affirmed that Bangladesh is neither weak nor submissive and will remain steadfast in countering misinformation. He urged citizen groups, the diaspora, and civil society to raise their voices against these campaigns.
The discussion included representatives from major political parties such as BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and other organizations, with leaders like Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, and Mahmudur Rahman Manna in attendance. The Chief Adviser also met student leaders earlier, seeking their support in rebuilding the nation and spreading the truth about Bangladesh’s progress.
Additionally, Prof. Yunus invited global journalists to witness the actual situation in Bangladesh firsthand, countering what he described as deliberate efforts to portray the country in a negative light. He expressed hope that the nation would remain united in defending its integrity and demonstrating its true achievements to the world.
