Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus praised Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) for its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity and sovereignty since independence. In a message marking “Border Guard Bangladesh Day” on Friday, December 20, he highlighted the BGB’s crucial role in border security, combating smuggling, and preventing trafficking of drugs and women and children. Dr. Yunus commended the BGB as a storied institution, recalling its heroic contributions during the Liberation War, including the sacrifices of 817 members and two Bir Sreshtho awardees, Lance Naik Noor Mohammad Sheikh and Lance Naik Munshi Abdur Rouf. He also lauded the force’s efforts in maintaining law and order after recent nationwide uprisings and managing severe floods in the southeast. Expressing hope for continued patriotism and professionalism, he extended his best wishes for the BGB’s future success and prosperity.
