Earthquake: Government to provide BDT 25,000 to families of the deceased, BDT 15,000 to the injured

A 5.7-magnitude earthquake jolted Dhaka and several other regions of Bangladesh yesterday morning, causing cracks in buildings, dislodging debris, and forcing panicked residents to rush outdoors.
The government has declared emergency financial support for those affected by the quake — Tk 25,000 for the families of the deceased and Tk 15,000 for those injured.
Official data so far confirms 10 fatalities and 461 injuries across multiple districts.
According to a statement issued today by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, district authorities are maintaining continuous contact to coordinate the response.
District administrations have already begun distributing the announced financial aid to families of the deceased and to injured individuals.
Initial reports indicate casualties and damage in Dhaka, Narayanganj, Gazipur, Narsingdi, and Magura.
Dhaka: 4 deaths, 59 injured
Narayanganj: 1 death, 18 injured
Narsingdi: 5 deaths, 110 injured
Gazipur: 252 injured
Magura: 22 injured
The ministry added that a comprehensive damage assessment is underway, and updated figures will be released once the evaluation is complete.
