The temperature in Dhaka and surrounding areas has dropped by nearly 4°C, offering some relief from the intense heat compared to the previous day. According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department’s forecast on Monday, May 12, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy with chances of rain or thunderstorms. Winds from the west or southwest may blow at speeds of 10–15 km/h, accompanied by gusts and rain. However, no significant change in daytime temperature is anticipated. At 6:00 AM, Dhaka recorded a temperature of 25.8°C with 79% humidity. The maximum temperature on Sunday was 39.9°C, while Monday’s minimum was 25.7°C. Light rainfall was recorded in Dhaka over the past 24 hours. The wider national forecast suggests scattered thunderstorms or rain in parts of Mymensingh and Sylhet, and isolated areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, and Chattogram. The rest of the country is expected to remain mostly dry with partly cloudy skies. Daytime temperatures may drop by 1–3°C in most regions except Khulna, where they are expected to remain steady. Nighttime temperatures will likely stay unchanged nationwide. A severe heatwave is sweeping over several districts including Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Rajbari, Khulna, Chuadanga, Meherpur, and Jashore, while moderate to mild heatwaves are affecting other parts of Rajshahi and Khulna divisions as well as Dhaka, Chattogram, Barishal, and parts of Rangpur and Mymensingh, but conditions may ease in some areas.
