Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali has firmly stated that no form of mob action will be tolerated in the city. He emphasized that those involved in creating mobs will be brought under the law, and if necessary, cases of robbery, extortion, or mugging may be filed against them.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday (June 24) following an event at the DMP headquarters, the commissioner warned that strict action would be taken against any police officers found negligent in controlling mobs.

He further informed that one individual has already been detained in connection with the recent incident where a mob harassed former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda. Legal proceedings are underway regarding the matter.

Reiterating his stance, the DMP Commissioner added that the authorities would pursue tough charges, including robbery and extortion, against those involved in mob activities if required.
