Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-10) has arrested three individuals along with firearms from an abandoned house in the Jurain area of Dhaka. According to RAB, the detainees were involved in various criminal activities, including drug trafficking, extortion, and organized crime.
In a press release issued by Assistant Police Superintendent Shamim Hasan Sardar, the Media Officer of RAB-10, it was stated that based on intelligence, a team conducted a raid at around 10:30 PM on Tuesday night (July 8). The operation targeted an abandoned house in the Bou Bazar area under Kadamtali Police Station, where several armed individuals were reportedly gathered.
During the raid, the RAB team recovered a foreign-made pistol, one magazine, and two rounds of ammunition. Three individuals were arrested at the scene.
The arrestees have been identified as Md. Shakil (36), son of the late Sabur Mia from the Jurain Mishti Dokan area; Md. Rubel (34), son of Nur Islam from Bou Bazar, Jurain; and Md. Moktar Bhuiya (40), son of Khokon Bhuiya from the same neighborhood.
RAB claims that the trio are known criminals who have long been involved in drug trade, extortion, and the illegal sale and purchase of firearms in the Bou Bazar area and surrounding locations. They reportedly used weapons to assert control over drug markets and intimidate locals.
Md. Shakil has nine drug-related cases filed against him in different police stations, while Rubel has one such case. Legal proceedings for filing new charges against all three suspects are currently underway, according to the RAB statement.
