Temperatures in Dhaka and surrounding areas are expected to fall slightly—by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius—during the first half of the day, potentially easing the intensity of the heat. Light rain is also likely in some areas, according to the latest update from the Meteorological Department.
Between 7:00 AM and 12:00 PM on Sunday (July 20), winds from the south and southeast may blow at speeds ranging from 10 to 15 kilometers per hour. A gradual decrease in daytime temperature is also anticipated.
At 6:00 AM today, the recorded temperature in Dhaka was 28.8°C. In comparison, Saturday’s maximum was 35.3°C, while today’s lowest temperature so far stands at 28.6°C. Humidity levels were relatively high, with 89% recorded at dawn. Rainfall in the past 24 hours was minimal, categorized as a “trace.”
Meanwhile, a general forecast for the entire country—issued the previous night—suggests that a low-pressure system may develop over the northern Bay of Bengal within the next five days. Although the system might intensify, there is currently no indication that it will evolve into a cyclone.
By 6:00 PM today, sporadic rain or thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds are expected in many areas of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, as well as in some parts of Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, and Barishal divisions. Some locations in the northern and eastern regions may also experience moderate to heavy rainfall.
Day and night temperatures in northern Bangladesh may decrease slightly, while other regions are likely to experience little to no change.
