On Tuesday, December 31, all banking transactions will be closed across the country due to the bank holiday. This includes the suspension of trading on the country’s two main stock exchanges. According to Bangladesh Bank’s holiday schedule, July 1 and December 31 are designated as ‘Bank Holidays’ for finalizing financial reports and closing annual accounts. On these days, all types of transactions in scheduled banks are halted, although official operations continue at the main offices and key branches for financial reconciliation. While banks remain open for administrative purposes, no transactions occur. During these holidays, customers can still withdraw a limited amount of money using cards. Since banking transactions are essential for share trading, both the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) will also have no trading activity, although their administrative functions will proceed.
