Bangladesh’s inflation rate rose to 8.29 percent in November, driven mainly by higher food prices, adding further pressure on households, particularly those with limited or fixed incomes.

According to the latest figures released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, the November rate was slightly above October’s 8.17 percent, though still below the 11.38 percent recorded during the same month last year.

In November, the consumer price index—tracking the cost of a standard basket of goods and services—went up in both rural and urban regions.

Bangladesh has been dealing with elevated inflation for almost four years. Price levels remained above 9 percent until May 2025 and have stayed above 8 percent ever since.
