Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it clear that there will be no further discussions with Pakistan over the Jammu and Kashmir issue unless Pakistan returns the territory of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). In his first address to the nation following the ceasefire, Modi emphasized that any future talks with Islamabad will be limited strictly to PoK and terrorism. He asserted that unless Pakistan dismantles its terrorist infrastructure, dialogue would not be possible. During the 22-minute speech, Modi heavily criticized the Pakistani military and government for allegedly supporting terrorism, warning that such support would ultimately lead to their downfall. Reiterating India’s long-standing position, Modi stated that Kashmir cannot be treated as a standalone issue and highlighted that terrorism and talks, trade and terror, or blood and water cannot flow together. Meanwhile, India rejected Pakistan’s demand to revive the Indus Waters Treaty as a condition for peace talks, with official sources confirming that India would not alter its stance on the decades-old agreement. While Pakistan has denied harboring or funding terrorists, India continues to accuse Islamabad of supporting cross-border terrorism, particularly after the recent attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Following India’s retaliatory “Operation Sindoor,” tensions escalated until U.S. President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire, after which diplomatic communication resumed.
