The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has allowed 3,534 candidates to proceed with their appointments as junior instructors (technical) or physical education instructors (10th grade) in various polytechnic institutes and technical schools and colleges. The apex court temporarily stayed a High Court order issued on January 27 that had halted the recruitment under the Technical Education Board. A four-member Appellate Division bench, led by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, directed the government to submit police verification reports on the candidates to the High Court within three weeks and instructed the High Court to resolve the rule on the matter within six weeks. The High Court had originally paused the recruitment process for three months, citing irregularities following a writ petition filed by 18 deprived candidates. With this latest decision, lawyer Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal confirmed that there are no legal obstacles for the selected candidates to join their positions. Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman represented the government, while Barrister Kayser Kamal argued on behalf of the writ petitioners.
