The Ministry of Education has directed that salaries and allowances be reinstated for MPO-listed principals, head teachers, and other staff of private educational institutions who were allegedly forced to resign.

On Tuesday (October 7), the Ministry’s Secondary and Higher Education Division issued a directive to the Directorate of Higher Education regarding the matter.

According to the letter, many teachers and employees who were compelled to resign have had their salaries suspended while investigations are still ongoing. As a result, several have appealed to the authorities, citing severe financial hardship.

The ministry emphasized that until investigations are completed and allegations resolved, the concerned teachers should continue receiving their salaries and allowances.

The directive further instructed that all such teachers be re-enlisted under the Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) system to resume payments immediately. It also warned that any officials or authorities who obstruct or delay this process will face disciplinary action in accordance with regulations.

Following the fall of the Awami League government during the public uprising on August 5 last year, many teachers across different institutions were reportedly forced to resign from their positions, resulting in salary suspensions.

Earlier in January, the Secondary and Higher Education Division had issued two similar directives regarding the continuation of salaries for those affected.
