Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nesar Uddin, at the inauguration of a training program at the Electoral Training Institute in Agargaon, stated the Election Commission’s commitment to addressing the deprivation faced by citizens, particularly their lack of voting rights. He expressed determination to alleviate this injustice, reaffirming the commission’s pledge to ensure a free, fair, and participatory election for the nation.

 

The CEC emphasized the necessity of providing citizens with the opportunity to cast their votes freely in the upcoming parliamentary elections, noting that the commission is striving to deliver an election that meets these standards. He remarked that the commission is attentive to the grievances of 180 million deprived citizens who lack voting rights, pledging to address their concerns.

 

Acknowledging the transitional nature of the current interim government, he described the commission as operating during a critical period. He highlighted ongoing reforms within the electoral system and expressed optimism about implementing recommendations from the Election System Reform Commission to amend relevant laws and regulations. Other election commissioners and the EC Secretary were also present at the event.
