The Election Commission (EC) of Bangladesh will begin a door-to-door voter list update drive starting January 20, as per a pre-announced plan. EC personnel will collect information over a two-week period to include eligible voters and update the voter list. This information was shared in a circular issued on January 5, signed by Senior Assistant Secretary Md. Nasir Uddin Chowdhury.

According to the EC, the program will collect data from citizens born on or before January 1, 2008, and those who were previously excluded from the voter list update. Information on deceased voters will also be collected for removal from the voter list. The data collection phase will take place from January 20 to February 3, during which field workers and supervisors will visit households to fill out necessary forms and gather documents.

From February 5 to April 11, registration, including biometric data collection, will be conducted at registration centers for eligible voters and those previously excluded. Applications for voter area transfers, removal of deceased voters, and new voter data will be processed using the Bangladesh Voter Registration Software (BVRS) from February 12 to February 16 at the offices of Upazila/Thana Election Officers.

The National Identity Registration Wing will prepare a PDF of the draft voter list and provide a link via the CMS portal by May 5,2025.
