A total of 1,522 former police personnel, dismissed during the tenure of the Awami League government for various reasons, have submitted applications to the Police Headquarters seeking reinstatement. The applications, which include 1,025 constables, 79 nayeks, 180 ASIs and ATSIs, 200 SIs, sergeants, and TSIs, 10 inspectors, and 28 civil staff members, have already been received. A committee, led by a Deputy Inspector General (DIG), is currently reviewing these applications to determine whether the individuals were victims of political retaliation. The committee is also examining cases involving criminal offenses, financial corruption, moral misconduct, behavioral issues, and breaches of departmental discipline. Additionally, some cases are under review by administrative tribunals and appellate tribunals. Meanwhile, the dismissed officers have been holding various programs to demand their jobs back, prompting the Police Headquarters to urge them to refrain from activities that cause public inconvenience.
