The first phase of the two-part Bishwa Ijtema, organized by the Shura-e-Nezam (followers of Maulana Jubair), is currently underway on the banks of the Turag River in Tongi, Gazipur. The second day’s activities began on Saturday with sermons, prayers, and religious discussions following the Fajr prayer. The event will conclude on Sunday with the Akheri Munajat (final prayer) led by Bangladesh’s Maulana Jubair.

Saturday’s activities commenced with a sermon by Pakistan’s Maulana Khurshid, translated into Bangla by Mufti Usama Islam. At 10 AM, special religious sessions took place, followed by sermons from India’s Maulana Ibrahim Dewla and Maulana Akbar Sharif, focusing on students and scholars. After Zuhr prayer, Maulana Ismail Godhra delivered his speech, with India’s Maulana Zuhair addressing the congregation after Asr prayer. A mass dowry-free marriage ceremony was also held. The day concluded with another sermon from Maulana Ibrahim Dewla after Maghrib prayer.

On Sunday, before the final prayer, Maulana Abdur Rahman will deliver a sermon after Fajr, and Maulana Ibrahim Dewla will give a concluding advisory speech. Throughout the Ijtema, long sermons are delivered after Fajr and Maghrib prayers, while shorter sessions occur after Zuhr and Asr. Special sermons are arranged around 10:30 AM for different groups like students, teachers, and professionals, while others engage in Islamic discussions and prayers.

Most sermons are delivered by scholars from India and Pakistan in Urdu, with Bangla translations for the local audience. Bangladeshi speakers deliver their sermons directly in Bangla. The Ijtema ground is packed with worshippers engaged in prayers, listening to sermons, cooking, or performing ablutions, all focused on the religious atmosphere.

A designated area in the northwest section of the ground has been set up for foreign participants, with devotees from different countries continuing to arrive. The Ijtema site and surrounding areas have transformed into a spiritual hub.

The second phase of the Shura-e-Nezam’s Ijtema will begin on February 3, concluding with the final prayer on February 5. Following this, from February 14 to 22, the Ijtema of Maulana Saad Kandhalvi’s followers is scheduled to take place.
