The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), A. M. M. Nasir Uddin, stated that the Election Commission is not working to implement anyone’s agenda, but rather the agenda of the people of Bangladesh. Speaking at a discussion organized on the occasion of National Voter’s Day 2025 at the Election Commission building in Agargaon, Dhaka, on Sunday (March 2), Nasir Uddin emphasized that the people are dreaming of a new Bangladesh. Failing in this mission would betray the blood of the martyrs. He highlighted that everyone desires free and fair elections, and this expectation has grown in recent times. To fulfill this, cooperation from all is needed, and political parties must accept differing opinions, which is the essence of democracy. He added that there is unanimous agreement that a fair, acceptable, and credible election is needed, and if political parties could provide a written statement affirming their commitment to a fair election during meetings with the Commission, it would ease the Commission’s work. Nasir Uddin reaffirmed that their agenda is the people’s agenda, and they are committed to ensuring a fair election.
