500 ‘Auxiliary Police’ Deployed for Eid Security in the Capital

In preparation for Ramadan and Eid, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Mohammad Sajjat Ali announced that 500 individuals will be appointed as Auxiliary Police Force to ensure security for the capital’s residents. During a press briefing on Saturday, March 8, at DMP’s media center on Minto Road, the commissioner revealed that these individuals, experienced in security management at various shopping malls and local areas, will serve for one month. They will have similar powers to the police, including the authority to arrest criminals. The auxiliary officers will be provided with badges and are authorized to exercise police powers. In case they are attacked while apprehending criminals, it will be treated as a ‘police assault,’ and legal action will be taken. This initiative is in accordance with the DMP’s legal framework.
